Three great value, versatile wines that go with just about anything. Nothing to heavy, no oak, just easy drinking. The three bottles are:
White: Domaine les Yeuses, Sauvignon Blanc 2020. Crisp, grassy, fruity Sauvignon. Good on its own, great with seafood, grilled fish and goat's cheese. This is the new vintage so is nice and fresh.
Rosé: Domaine Saint Hilaire, Rosé "Expression" 2020. Another new vintage, Saint Hilaire never fail with their rosé. This is 70%, the great rosé grape of the south of France, with a little Grenache, Syrah, and with a nod to Provence, a little bit of white Vermentino! Nice pale colour and bags of fruit. Another great "Patio Wine", or "Rosé Piscine" as the French say, but one which is ideal with most meat and fish off the barbecue.
Red: Domaine de Castelnau, Pinot Noir "Les Muriers" 2019. Award-winning Pinot, and I have to say, probably the best value Pinot I've tried in the Languedoc. Brambly fruit, just enough body and a great mouth feel. Won big at the 2020 Decanter Wine Awards against wines often two, three or more times the price!
