Our fantastic mixed case in a smart presentation box.
As the days lengthen and start to warm up, we've put together a six-pack of lighter, fresh, easy-drinking wines. 2 whites, 2 rosés and 2 reds. They are all fruit-forward wines that you can open on their own or pair with your outdoor meals. The price is a wallet-friendly €43.50. You can offer it as a present in a very smart red presentation box for €50. Here are the wines:
Domaine de Castelnau, Pinot Noir "Les Mûriers" 2020
Exceptional Pinot Noir at this price! All the lovely, juicy red fruit that you would expect with just a hint of spice. Really drinkable too. This wine was awarded a bronze in the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards. Not bad for a €6,50 wine!
Domaine Monplézy, "Canon Huppé" 2020
A fruity red from Domaine Monplézy. 100% Cinsault, a grape variety that is most often used to make rosé wine. It is a large berry variety that gives a lot of light juice. This wine shows notes of fresh red fruits and also light vegetal notes. It can be drunk slightly chilled (14°C). It can be drunk on its own or accompanied by light meat or vegetarian dishes. If you have never tasted a 100% Cinsault red, we think you will be very pleasantly surprised. Organic too!
Domaine Les Yeuses, Sauvignon Blanc 2020
Just the kind of Sauvignon that you want to find down here: grassy, fruity, fresh and easy-drinking with well-balanced acidity. This wine goes to prove that something good can come out of 2020!
Bastide des Songes, Gewurtztraminer 2019
Definitely not a grape variety that one associates with the Languedoc, but when you try this one, you may get a very pleasant surprise. I love the great rich, flavour-packed Gewurz's of Alsace, but this one is dryer, lighter yet with all of the lovely lychee aroma and fruit flavours that one expects from this grape. Drink on its own or pair with lighter Asian flavours or with sauerkraut!
Domaine Ollier Taillefer, "Les Collines" Rosé 2020
A rosé like we like them! Pale in colour but full of character. Grapes from young Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre vines. More typical and spicy than a "pool rosé", this wine will go perfectly with your tapas and grilled meats.
Cros-Pujol, "Zangre" Rosé 2020
Produced by Château de Grézan, Zangre is a blend of Cinsault and Grenache. It has aromas of English sweets and is generous in the mouth.
